‘80km for Elgon’ challenge
The Ugandan village of Mutoto sits on the lush slopes of Mount Elgon, and is the first community we began work with in 2019. True to our origin, and our charity name, our fundraising challenge this year is to travel a distance equivalent to the diameter of Mount Elgon; 80 kilometres.
WHAT’S THE CHALLENGE?
We are challenging ourselves, our friends, groups and colleagues to cover the distance of 80km in the month of September,
The distance can be covered in a range of ways; cycle, row, walk, run, roll or waddle your way to 80km with us!
WHEN?
The challenge starts Monday the 1st of September and finishes on Tuesday the 30th of September.
Join us for our fundraiser event - cover some of the distance with the team and other fundraisers - see our Snowdon challenge below.
Mount Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa)
We LOVE a sponsored mountain climb - we’re named after Mt. Elgon after all… this September 2025, join a mighty team of fundraisers and tackle the tallest peak in Wales.
WHEN?
Saturday 27th September, 2025, prompt 7am start
WHERE?
A big Ol’ group of us will meet at Pen y Pass Car Park | Eryri National Park *It’s crucial you book car parking in advance.
We will be taking the ‘Pyg’ track to the summit, via the fastest route. It is regarded as a strenuous and challenging hike, likely to take around 5-6hours with 700/800metres of elevation gain.
WHO?
We’re a diverse bunch, from all walks of life, of different ages and from different backgrounds. Many fundraisers won’t have met before. But you’ll get acquainted quickly, climbing Wales’ tallest mountain will do that to a group. EVERYONE IS WELCOME, though a good level of physical fitness is recommended.
SAFETY ADVICE
We recommend browsing ErYri national parks safety advice when deciding on climbing Snowdon. Your safety and wellbeing is important to us so please choose an appropriate challenge for your fitness level and consult a doctor if needed before participation.
