Our Values & Fundraising Code of Practise

Elgon Empowerment’s Values

Solidarity & Locally-led change:

Elgon Empowerment is founded on the principle that we should mobilise and leverage the resources available to us to specifically support the vision and work of communities in Uganda and East Africa. We are committed to support and respect local empowerment work, local leaders and groups. We defer to the needs of the communities we work with, ensuring we support their vision for change instead of imposing our view of development.

Mutual respect:

Elgon Empowerment believes in equality, diversity, and inclusion, respecting all people, and ensuring we're respectful of the environments and places we work in.

Independence & humility:

Elgon Empowerment is independent of political, religious or other affiliations. We operate as an interface ready to listen, aware of the importance of working collectively as part of a greater alliance of forces collaborating to alleviate poverty.

Integrity:

Elgon Empowerment is committed to being honest, transparent and accountable at all levels, from the resources we use, the programmes we action, and our communications with everyone, in person and online.
